Our 5th Anniversary Vacation?

I had reeeeally hoped this post would be full of pictures with us eating in fancy restaurants, touring a castle, but most of all, pictures of us on the beach.
Sigh.
Our supposed to be fabulous trip to California turned into a two day trip to the mechanic shop in Las Vegas. We were sooooo disappointed my friends.
As we got into Vegas and began watching for our exit our car started acting weird. In fact, our car simply died. It would have been a lot more frightening if traffic hadn't just slowed down due to construction. It is the only time I've felt grateful for construction, ever! I was driving and I began freaking out, the clutch was making a strange noise and I couldn't shift. Thankfully the car started back up and we were able to get off at the next exit. We drove and drove (on a prayer because our car was NOT doing well) looking for somewhere that would be free to park so that we could then look for a mechanic. We found a little grocery store and luckily there was a mechanic on the other side of the street, thank goodness! Blair and the mechanic walked back to the car and were able to drive it over. The diagnosis? The clutch had completely gone out. The prognosis? At least a full day of labor in order to put in a new clutch. Oh. And $1300.
So, there went all of our vacation money plus some. Thankfully we had a hotel to check into and we were able to extend it two nights.
A vacation in Vegas? Not great for 2 people who don't gamble, drink, or smoke. Oh well. We did get to spend time together without our little one and that was great. We swam in the pool and ate giant ice cream deserts, we watched the free entertainment outside Treasure Island. I'm glad it was free because it wasn't super great. We walked down the strip and saw the Bellagio Water Show, that was incredible! I also quite enjoy people watching, especially in Vegas. It attracts so many different kinds of people, it's a lot fun to see!
So, instead of the pictures that should have been, here are these -
Our hotel. We only dared adventure out at night, it was So. Hot. We were waiting for the (kinda lame) pirate show to start :-)

We each got to buy our favorite breakfast cereals in the Walgreens across the street. The lady who checked us out got a laugh out of our cereal, bowls, spoons, and milk purchase!
And this is the place where our car spent all of it's time.
We were glad to finally be home when the time came, and even more glad that we made it home safely!
What. A. Trip.

What an anniversary trip! Even though it didn't go as planned, at least you got to spend time together and make some fun memories right? :)

Anniversary!
