Baby Girl!

We found out yesterday, September 24th, that our next sweet baby will be a girl! We are SO excited! The ultra sound went great. She is healthy and happy and so very wiggly! We felt so much relief in being able to see her and know she is okay. With this knowledge under our belts we felt like it was finally the time to let everyone know we that we are expecting, it's been so fun to have so many people share our excitement with us! We have felt so much love!
This pregnancy has been COMPLETELY different than Gavin's.
Before we even knew we were pregnant I was experiencing some bleeding and so you can imagine how afraid we were when we actually knew that we were. When I called the doctor to set up our first appointment he suggested that I come in at 5 and 6 weeks to do some blood tests, just to be sure things were progressing well. Thankfully, all was well. We got to see the heartbeat at 8 weeks and that was so comforting. Then the nausea started. It was so much more sever this time even though I only threw up twice and that was around week 13. This is the main reason our summer was such a bummer. It's hard to want to do anything when you're nauseous. It was so awful! With Gavin I was throwing up almost daily from week 8 to week to 16 which was bad, but for some reason this time around was so much worse. I feel better now, but I just cringe when I think about it!
At our 12 week appointment we heard and saw her heartbeat, it made me cry to actually hear it and know that she was well. It is such a beautiful sound. That appointment was on a Friday and we decided to tell our families that weekend. Gavin needed a haircut and so after my mom gave him one we asked if she would mind changing his shirt, since it was covered in hair. She changed him into his Big Brother shirt :-) It was so fun! Then we walked on over to Grandma and Grandpa Gibb's so they could see him in his shirt as well, it was great!
That Monday (my birthday) I started bleeding again. I was so afraid. I couldn't get hold of Blair because his phone has zero reception at work. I called the doctor and he set up an ultra sound for that afternoon. Blair came home and Grandma came to watch Gavin while we went. The ultra sound tech showed us her heartbeat first thing and I once again started crying. We were so relieved to see her little heartbeat going strong. The tech found a little tear in the placenta which had caused some blood to pool, but it wasn't anything too serious. They put me on semi-bed rest for 2 weeks in hopes that the placenta would reattach, which it did. It was not the greatest birthday I've ever had, but it was the best present to be able to see her and hear her heartbeat.
The nausea has slowly gone away, it ended around what we thought was my 17th week but it turns out I was only 16. I would have been 19 weeks today but after the ultra sound and all the measurements they took it looks like I'm only 18 weeks. My due date was pushed back to February 27th and it doesn't bother me one bit. We are so happy to know that she is healthy and that she is a she! Gavin has told us without hesitation that we would be having a girl, I love that he was right! We love her so very much!
