Hikes!

Ever since our hike up to the lakes on our anniversary Blair and I have been aching to be in the mountains again! We found a few hikes that were kid friendly, packed up the kiddo's and off we went. We've done three this month and would love to do more as long as the weather is good. The first hike we did was to Donut Falls in Big Cottonwood Canyon. It was Gavin's first actual hike and he was in heaven! He could be as loud as he wanted, he could run up ahead of us, he could let his imagination go! It was so fun to watch! He tripped on some rocks probably three times and that dampened his spirit a little, but for the most part he just loved it!
We were really grateful to have the backpack for Lucy on this hike and she absolutely loved it! This picture on the left is one of my favorites because of how much Blair and Gavin look alike. They are such handsome men! I love Lucy's little head poking out too :-) Gavin is doing a little potty dance on the right. He ended up having to go outside for the first time ever and was so very proud "I got all the rocks wet daddy!" Such a proud father-son moment right there.
The views were spectacular from the trail. The sun faded out the mountains in the very back of this picture, but you can still see some of the colors. They were brilliant!
The next hike we did was called Mill B South and it was up Big Cottonwood Canyon as well. This one was paved so it was great for the stroller - sooo nice! This one lead to two different little waterfalls that were so awesome. The whole way up was just beautiful!
We had to keep stopping to take pictures because every place was more beautiful than the last. Gavin loved this little hike too.
These two are just too cute!

The last one we did doesn't really qualify as a hike. I guess the last one didn't either since it was also paved, but this one especially because it was so short. We went to the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon to walk around the Temple Quarry Trail and it was fascinating! All along the trail are markers telling about how the pioneers mined the granite in order to build the temple and about the once booming town of Graniteville that doesn't exist anymore. It was awesome. Just so you know, the pictures don't do the rocks justice. They were so white! This used to be a river and once again, Gavin was in heaven!
Some of the boulders were small. Others were huge slabs of granite!
Can you say "like father like son?"
They love their daddy so much.
The views from on top of the big boulders were amazing. Can you see the sweeping landscape behind us? The colors were incredible. The whole canyon was so beautiful!
I love my family!
We definitely plan to do more hiking with the kids as they get older. We hope they'll love it as much as we do!
