Summertime, So Far..

Our summer began with not the greatest of activities because we decided that it was time to really potty train this boy
The stress was almost too much to handle. Don't get me wrong, he actually did amazing, really. We decided that we would forego the pull ups and just make him learn with big boy underwear from day one and I'm really glad we did. But this made the nighttime stress almost through the roof for me. It was a full 2 weeks of us following him around constantly saying "Be sure and tell us when you need to go potty!" over and over and over again. And over again. It was us jumping at any sound he made at night and rushing him to the bathroom. It was stressful. I think he learned quickly because he was so completely sick of us! Anyway, the first week he had a few accidents, some of them were really gross (insert stressful sigh here). The second week, however, he was basically perfect. He's had to learn not to leak into his undies, but that's as much of an accident that he's had in 2 months. And he's had only 1 accident at night during the entire time. He's awesome and we are so proud! He's lived in underwear and sometimes a shirt since the day we started, and its pretty darn cute. He is so proud to be wearing "big boy undahwayah" and we are beyond relieved that he's done!
No underwear in this one, but it makes us laugh!
I was so afraid that choosing to potty train him on pretty much the first day of summer would make it a miserable 3 months. He just did so amazing though and we've been able to go and do a lot of fun things! In June we took him to the Strawberry Days carnival and we were shocked that he had as much fun as he did. He LOVED the little train, the ferris wheel, and the carousel, he was so brave!
He wasn't super impressed with the roller coaster, but still had fun :-)
On the 4th of July we took the kids to a little carnival at a park near our house - can you say "boredom?"
It wasn't quite as impressive as Strawberry Days, but still fun to get out and do something. He won some cute little prizes so that made up for the boring swing ride. And everyone loved seeing our little Lucy, she is just adored wherever she goes, I love it!
Also in July we got to take time to go see Wheeler Farm and also check out Liberty Park. Such fun times!
Wheeler Farm was fun! Gavin liked the animals, but there were tractors to climb on, tree houses and trees to climb in, and rocks to throw into the water. He was in heaven!

This tree was neat - half was growing up and the other half was bent growing sideways. Super cool!

Liberty Park was awesome! Gavin had a blast! It's a huge park, but this part is a miniature recreation of all the Wasatch front rivers and waterfalls, either ankle or knee deep. Gavin did not stop the whole time we were here.
So fun!

The time we've been able to spend together has been awesome. Gavin is in a hard stage right now, but as hard as 3 has been, we LOVE that he's enjoying things! We love taking him places that we know he'll have fun, it is the best. And Lucy is just a perfect little sweetheart along for the ride. Our summer so far has been great! More updates to come.
